Course Description

This qualification is designed for educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated services across Australia. Professionals at this level are responsible for developing and implementing curricula aligned with approved learning frameworks, while also ensuring compliance with relevant service regulations.

Educators apply specialised knowledge and theoretical concepts to a range of practical situations. They may also oversee the work of volunteers or other educators, demonstrating leadership within their workplace.

Career pathways include employment in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools, and kindergartens.

To complete this qualification, students must undertake a minimum of 280 hours of practical work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia. These hours are distributed across units that require workplace experience, as specified in their assessment requirements.

At the time of publication, there are no specific occupational licensing, certification, or legislative requirements associated with this qualification.

For more details on approved qualifications and regulatory requirements under the Education and Care Services National Law (2011), please refer to the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA):
